Learning Objective:
SWBAT demonstrate the basic husbandry and care of common reptile companion animals.
How I will Assess:
- Students will be split into groups of 6-7 people. This will be a total of 8 groups.
- Each group will be given a worksheet with a specific case scenario where an owner is paired with a particular reptile. It is up to each group to detail what components are evident and what components are missing in the animal’s husbandry. Groups will then conclude if the reptile and owner matchup is recommended or if they are against it and why.
- I will only be doing 4 scenarios so two groups will always have the same scenario. The reason I am doing this is because each group will be able to assess if they found accurate information and if each group assigned to that scenario came to the same conclusion.
- Each group will be given 15-20 minutes of class time to work together on this assignment. Every group will be able to utilize the internet to support their findings based off the research skills they have been developing thus far in this Scholarship in Practice course. The worksheet will be turned in from each group with each group member’s name on it in order to receive participation points for the day (10).
- For the last 10 minutes of class, each group will present their findings to the class in order of scenarios given. I will assist groups with what the correct thought processes are so they can be prepared for this type of question on the exam.
- Additionally, I will be going over one case scenario as a class during a think-pair-share session for 5 minutes so they know what is expected of them for the group assignment.
- Based off of the group feedback and the graded worksheets, I will be able to assess if the class attained my learning objective.
